Although Corporal Reese hails from Boulder, CO, this save takes place halfway around the world. Reese was in Incislik, Turkey handling his first assignment with the USAF Security Police. On receiving a bomb threat in the base’s recreational building, Reese was assigned to the search party. According to Reese, he was about thirty feet away when the bomb exploded. He was instantly thrown on his back and buried under ceiling and walls. Two hours later, the rescue team found Reese. They recovered four pieces of the fragmented bomb in his Second Chance® Model “Z” vest. The doctors state that any one of the fragments would have killed Reese instantly. As stated by Reese, “They (fragments) ate up my vest, but not me.”
We welcome Corporal Jeff Reese, SAVE #196, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
