On July 17, 2016, officers were investigating a domestic disturbance. While one officer was seated in his patrol car, he was approached by a subject who fired multiple shots from a .22 pistol into the squad car, striking the officer in the upper arm, again in the forearm, on the bridge of his nose and two times in the chest. The suspect then fled on foot and was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The officer’s ABA® armor stopped the two rounds that hit his chest and he was treated for the rounds that hit him off the armor. The officer is now back to full duty.
