On October 30, 2015, Officer Cory Tsouras was searching an area for a wanted suspect. As the officer approached, the suspect fired five rounds at the officer, hitting him once in the chest.
Shortly after the shooting, the assailant was captured and has been convicted of multiple felonies. Officer Tsouras was transported to the hospital where it was determined his Safariland® SX01 level II armor stopped the round to his chest. He was treated and released from the hospital and has returned to full duty.
