On February 15, 2017, Facility Security Officer Thomas A. Thiel Jr. was using a crosswalk when a GMC Yukon struck him. He was rushed to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a tibial plateau fracture in his left leg, facial lacerations and contusions.
Though the truck’s impact was mostly to his side, he suffered no injuries to his torso in the area protected by his Second Chance® SM02 II armor.
Considering the damage to the vehicle, medical personnel believe that Officer Thiel’s injuries would have been much more severe, if not fatal, if he had not been wearing his armor.
We welcome Facility Security Officer Thomas A. Thiel Jr., SAVE #1985, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
