On July 10, 2010, Detective Dave Ragion and his partner located a suspect on a bicycle and the suspect began to flee. As Officer Ragion pulled his Taser® weapon out, he suddenly heard a loud pop and announced that he had been shot. He was hit in the left shoulder, left thigh and in the lower abdomen.
The suspect continued to flee and Detective Ragion was rushed to the hospital where they determined that his GH Lite Level IIIA armor had stopped the round which hit his lower abdomen and had likely saved his life.
