On August 1, 2017, members of the Waco Police Department SWAT Team were serving a high risk narcotics warrant when the suspect accelerated his GMC Yukon SUV towards Officer Will Graeber and ran him over. The front wheel and tire of the vehicle ran over the officer’s chest, causing the officer to get stuck in the drivetrain.
As he attempted to flee the scene, the suspect continued to drag the officer until the other officers were able to stop him. The officers then lifted the vehicle off Officer Graeber and had to cut his clothing and gear out of the drivetrain to release him.
Doctors credit his Second Chance® SM01 level II armor with protecting his torso from lethal damage. Officer Graeber’s team and his Second Chance SM01 level II armor collectively contributed to his survival and he expects to return to full duty shortly.
We welcome Officer Will Graeber, SAVE #2001, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
