This officer’s assailant called police headquarters at 0230 with a threat to kill people. Officer Bailey and his partner were assigned to investigate. On arrival, they were met with gunfire and requested assistance. After the backup crew failed to talk the subject out, Bailey was assigned to fire teargas into the house. As he positioned himself approximately 25 feet from the house, a 12ga. shotgun blast echoed from the house striking Bailey. The pellets sprayed Bailey’s upper torso but “had no pellets or wounds in the area protected by “Second Chance®”. Six weeks later Bailey returned to duty, and three days after that he was married. Mrs. Bailey writes, “We were married June 2, 1980. “Second Chance® led the way, I just followed its lead when (I too was) given a “second chance”, after Tim’s shooting and recovery.”
We welcome Officer Timothy Bailey, SAVE #204, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
