On June 23, 2016 Deputy Chris Allende was working motorcycle enforcement at a DUI checkpoint when he made a traffic stop. The suspect immediately exited his vehicle and opened fire on Deputy Allende striking him three times.
Deputy Allende was hit on both wrists and once on his chest. His Safariland MN01 IIA armor stopped the 9mm FMJ round that hit his chest. Deputy Allende was able to return fire, but the suspect escaped and shot at more police officers before taking hostages inside a building. After long hours of negotiations the suspect was taken into custody and charged with more than 10 felonies.
Deputy Allende went through physical rehabilitation for the wounds received to his wrists and has returned to full duty.
We welcome Deputy Allende, SAVE #2063 to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
