On July 20, 2019 an officer was searching for an armed suspect in the parking lot of a vehicle dealership. The suspect opened fire from cover and struck the officer twice. One 9mm round struck the sergeant in the forearm and the second round struck him in the upper left back area and was stopped by his Safariland® Xtreme® HP02 level II armor.
The suspect was taken into custody moments later and faces multiple felony charges.
