Officer Nordlund was in pursuit of an underaged driver who borrowed his friend’s car…without permission. As the two cars were approaching the 60 MPH range, a third car pulled out of a side street between the two and was hit broad side by the police unit. Nordlund broke the steering wheel with the impact of his chest. The attending paramedic at the scene and the hospital physician concur Nordlund’s Second Chance® vest prevented considerable chest damage in the accident.
