Officer Shumard’s Second Chance® body armor took the brunt of force as he was thrown over the handlebars of his cycle onto the fender, hood and rooftop of the vehicle that hit him head-on. The stopping impact of the accident forced Shumard down into the cycle’s gas tank leaving a 6″ dent in the tank with his groin before making a dent in the car with his chest.
