While most cars know to stop when a police unit is driving fast with its top and grill lights on, not all drivers pay close attention. This was the case for Patrolman Rick Hovden. While pursuing a vehicle, Hovden entered an intersection and was broadsided by another vehicle. Pictures and doctor’s statements back up Hovden’s wise decision to don a Second Chance® vest before going on duty.
