Gallo, a member of his department’s SWAT team, was in a house-to-house search of an armed suspect wanted in burglary. As Gallo and his partner approached the back door of one house, shots were fired from within, through the screened door, scattering the outside searchers. The gunman followed his shots out the door firing at Gallo, who was now lying supine on the ground. One of the shots, from the gunman’s .357, pierced Gallo’s arm deflecting into his Second Chance® vest worn under the area not covered by his SWAT vest. The gunman, like the Sundance Kid, was caught in a barrage of police gunfire, from about 30 lawmen, and fell dead.
We welcome SWAT Officer Oscar Gallo, SAVE #255, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
