Rixham was a patrolman under the authorization of the Federal Protective Service Police, eight years ago when his “second chance” happened. While approaching a car with two people seated inside, Rixham was about to ask them to leave the area; one assailant got out of the car and began a fight. In the melee, the attacker grabbed Rixham’s service gun and shot him. The second assailant drew his 9mm and shot Rixham again, in the side. Rixham’s Second Chance® lightweight model, a gift only nine days old, caught and held the .38 slug from his own gun. The 9mm was through-and-through. The incident must have made Rixham “see the light”. In 1976 Rixham retired from the force and is now the National Chaplain for the American Law Enforcement Officers Association.
We welcome Officer John Rixham, SAVE #257, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
