Fireworks started early on Sunday morning July 4, 1982. When most people were in church, the Allen County SWAT team was dug in with a barricaded gunman. Koop and his fellow officers were in the process of trying to convince an emotionally disturbed heavily armed gunman to end the daylong siege when one of his shotgun blasts hit Officer Koop in the face and upper chest. The result of the injury caused the loss of his eye but his Model Y Second Chance® Body Armor protected his upper torso.
We welcome Officer Christopher Koop, SAVE #267, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
