Deputy Berry was in one of those hopeless situations where he hit a slick spot on an icy road and had no way of stopping his sliding patrol car. He didn’t have to wait long because a pickup truck coming from the opposite direction was fast approaching. Both vehicles wound up in a ditches on opposite sides of the road. Berry’s shoulder harness didn’t do its job but his Second Chance® vest did. Sheriff Wellman confirms what happened to Berry and his cruiser plus what may have happened had Berry not been wearing his Second Chance® body armor.
