On September 24, 1982, Officer McDonald stopped a vehicle on the highway for a traffic violation. He approached the vehicle alongside the driver’s door when another motorist, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, struck McDonald’s car…and McDonald himself. McDonald sustained multiple injuries to his body. Due to the force exerted in this accident, it is believed McDonald’s Second Chance® vest played a significant role in saving his life.
