His assailant was ONLY 16 years old but the slug was a Super Vel .38 special, 125g JSP and the distance from point of gun to Crawford’s heart was 42 inches. These are statistics that were deadly enough to kill if not for the Second Chance® vest worn by this policeman. Crawford wound up in the hospital, not so much for the point blank hit in the chest but from the second shot that entered his hip. On April 5, 1975, Mike Crawford got a new lease on life.
We welcome Officer Mike Crawford, SAVE #29, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
