Officer Scovronski’s assailant was out on bond for two previous charges of armed robbery when he met his Maker on the night of January 20, 1983. After a brief pursuit involving the city and county lawmen, the armed assailant attempted to make a getaway while firing his .22 at the officers. Scovronski was the only officer hit by the gunfire, and he was wearing his Second Chance® vest. The wound to his arm was minor but the .22 slug in the middle of Scovronski’s front panel of his vest would have been another problem. There was no question about the .357 slugs entering the gunman’s body.
We welcome Officer James Scovronski, SAVE #291, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
