Deputy Thomas Gutknecht stopped at a bar to check on an address of a suspect for which he had a warrant. The bar owner was having little success at extracting an intoxicated patron. The patron got belligerent and began a fight. At this time Gutknecht placed him under arrest for disorderly conduct. A fight broke out and the drunk pulled a knife and began stabbing at Gutknecht. The knife penetrated his uniform shirt and the carrier cover of body armor but stopped in the ballistic panel of his Second Chance® vest.
