Officer Safrit was patrolling an apartment complex on foot when his assailant stepped from behind and fired two shots in Safrit’s back. Even though there was only one hole in his uniform shirt, two separate slugs were removed from the back panels of his Second Chance® vest. Speculation was that the “hit” was a set-up. The ammo was .25 caliber foreign made mercury-filled bullets. Had Safrit not been wearing the vest, the bullets would have entered his heart and lungs.
We welcome Officer Randy Safrit, SAVE #306, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
