Officer Phillips stopped a suspected burglar and was questioning him when the suspect drew a .32 handgun and fired five quick shots, four of which struck Phillips. The first two hits were in the upper chest, both of which were held in the Second Chance® vest Phillips was wearing. The other two were in the shoulder and left arm. Phillips was able to return fire but there were no confirmed hits on the fleeing felon.
