Officer McNair was pursuing a traffic violator where speeds reached 100 MPH. Both cars left the road at the same time. McNair’s car struck a large pile of dirt and catapulted over the median, landing upside down. McNair’s chest was protected by his Second Chance® armor, breaking the steering wheel from the column and pushed the column down from the dashboard. Fortunately, McNair sustained no major injuries.
