This lawman took two hits from his assailant’s shotgun. The first rifled-slug impact hit him in the upper left chest area above the heart. “I never heard the shot, but my ears started to ring.” It wasn’t until he looked down that he realized he had been shot. Turning to duck for cover, Power took another hit in the lower right rear. Both hits partially disabled Power but he was still able to return fire until backup arrived. Power’s Model Y vest stopped a 12ga. slug at 25-feet.
