Officer Gross was responding to a “prowler” call when his car struck a patch of ice and impacted against a steel guard rail. The sudden stop threw Gross into his steering wheel. Dr. Schattener, attending physician, stated that had it not been for Gross” Second Chance® body armor he would have received injuries spawning “a lengthy hospital stay or even the officer’s demise.”
