Officer McRea becomes Second Chance’s first recorded Canadian save. It’s not the lack of officers wearing vests that there aren’t more Canadian saves. “We fortunately seem to have fewer shootings up here,” writes McRea. Fortunately for McRea, he WAS wearing armor the day he was flagged down by a bank employee relaying information that the bank had just been robbed, pointing out the robber as he fled down the street. Following on foot, McRea pursued the robber. The robber, tiring of the chase, turned and fired a sawed-off shotgun at McRea. McRea fell to the ground as the shooter ran up to the officer and fired another round into McRea’s back. McRea received wounds to his face, neck, head, legs and arms. His torso was untouched by the double blast of his assailant’s shotgun pellets when they were absorbed by his Second Chance® armor.
We welcome Officer Rob McRae, SAVE #344, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
