While on motorcycle patrol, Officer Sturniolo was struck by a vehicle driven by a drunk driver. Sturniolo flew through his own windshield and then into the street. He hit something on impact on the street that bent his badge into a U-shape. He received a broken arm and nose, fractured left elbow with cuts and bruises over his entire body except where he wore his helmet and Second Chance® armor.
