Officer Wood was responding to a “drag racing” complaint at night, entering an intersection with his lights on and siren blasting. Another car, from the right, came through at the same time with Wood broadsiding it. The impact tore the steering wheel and column from the dashboard. Wood’s attending physician stated, “the (Second Chance®) vest protected the patient (Wood) from significant thoracic injury.”
