Collis borrowed the extra vest a fellow officer had and was wearing it the morning he stopped an orange pickup for running a red light. Instead of a driver’s license coming from the violator’s pocket, out came a handgun firing a .25 slug into Collis” lower left chest area. Stunned, Collis retreated, calling for assistance. Looking up he saw his attacker advancing towards him. Another officer, only a block away, responded in seconds to catch the assailant in crossfire. Both officers fired their weapons striking the gunman at least three times, mortally wounding him.
We welcome Officer Stacey Collis, SAVE #369, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
