Officer Summers was in the course of apprehending an errant bull when he was kicked in the chest by a hoof “creating an ecchymosis on the right chest.” wrote Dr. Vanderheiden. Without his Second Chance® vest, “he would have sustained fractured ribs, lung injury and possible direct liver injury.”
