The other driver and his passenger were ticketed for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and not wearing a seat belt. In the emergency vehicle wearing a seat belt was New Hartford Officer Timothy O’Neill. The resultant collision trapped O’Neill in his car for what felt like a lifetime before being pried out by the hydraulic “Jaws of Life.” fellow deputies stated O’Neill’s Second Chance® armor saved him from more critical injuries other than the head and leg cuts and bruises O’Neill received.
