Trooper Coon was flying in a chopper as part of the New Mexico Police Tactical Team in a joint marijuana operation. Coming into a LZ, the chopper went into auto rotation flinging Coon around and against a metal seat, breaking it from its brackets. Coon’s attending physician stated, “multiple rib fractures may very well have occurred were it not for the use of his (Second Chance®) vest.”
