Mr. Lamont was demonstrating a CETME 5.56 belt-fed machine gun when the extractor broke. Lamont opened the bolt and reached for the shell in the chamber. As he did this, the shell “cooked off” sending the 120g .372 caliber case back into Lamont’s chest, protected by a borrowed Second Chance® vest. Estimated velocity of the case was about 800 fps, equivalent to that of a .38 wadcutter. The vest “borrowed” by Lamont was Richard Davis”, an interested bystander.
We welcome Kent Lamont, SAVE #405, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
