Chief Steve Markley wrote Rich Davis a “thank you” note regarding the incident in which one of his officers was accidentally shot by a fellow officer. While on duty, Officer Reichold was struck in the right center of his chest by a 9mm Nyclad 124gr hollow point round. The attending physician in the ER at the hospital told Sgt. Reichold that had he not had his (Second Chance®) vest on, he would have been visited by the medical examiner not the doctor.
