Officer Pelliccioni was traveling in his patrol car, on a four-lane highway at a speed of approximately 50 MPH. Another vehicle, in front of Pelliccioni, pulled out from the right shoulder of the highway across Pelliccioni’s lane. Pelliccioni hit the vehicle broadside. As a result of the collision he received a hip fracture, facial laceration and right calf injury. A permanent indentation in his Second Chance® vest was from the steering wheel when his chest slammed into it.
