Officer Clemons was in pursuit of a vehicle wanted for several traffic violations. During the chase the violator struck another police vehicle and was stopped. After placing the driver and his passenger under arrest, Clemons was attempting to clear the street of the vehicle with the aid of three other officers. A truck, driven by a DWI, ran into the officers killing one and seriously injuring the other three. The hospital doctors stated that Clemons was “lucky” to be wearing his Second Chance® armor otherwise the impact would have “caved in Officer Clemons chest.”
