Vance was driving with his canine partner in the early morning hours when he noticed a subject inside a local auto sales lot. Vance called to the man to stop, exited his car, leaving his partner in the unit. As he approached the subject, Vance was attacked from behind by at least two other men. During the melee, Vance was shot in the chest with a small caliber handgun. Vance struggled back to his car to call for help and to release his partner to chase down his assailants. The subjects jumped into a waiting car and escaped. No empty casings were found and the round found in his Second Chance® armor was too deformed to establish the caliber of the weapon.
We welcome Officer Michael Vance, SAVE #489, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
