Kawahara, a member of a private subdivision security system, was responding to a complaint of loud noise in the complex. On arrival he was met by several subjects. During the altercation, the officer’s .45 was taken from his holster by a second party, who shot Kawahara in the upper right chest area. His torso was protected by his Model Y12 Second Chance® armor stopping the 200g CCI .45 slug. By the time his new vest arrived, Kawahara’s assailant was in the Jackson County jail for attempted murder and felonious assault with a firearm.
We welcome Officer Mike Kawahara, SAVE #491, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
