Sergeant Malcom Bonney

Grand Rapids Police Department Grand Rapids MI Saves Club

During a night patrol on the streets of Grand Rapids, Mich., Police Sgt. Bonney attempted to stop a man who was walking in the street. Before he was able to even vacate the patrol car, the subject pulled a knife and began slashing Bonney’s head and neck. Bonney eventually got out of his car, where the subject continued to slash him. Bonney was able to pull his gun, and fatally hit the assailant. While Bonney was being examined and treated, doctors discovered a two-inch tear in his shirt above the pocket. It was determined, had he not been wearing his Second Chance® vest, the knife would have penetrated his skin, possibly causing a fatal injury.

We welcome Sergeant Malcom Bonney, SAVE #53, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
