Deputy Powell was a member of the back-up team during a buy-bust operation. The street level drug dealer made the undercover cop during the bust and pulled a .38 snubnose from his waistband. The back-up team exited their van as the deal went sour. Powell, in front of the other NARCs, quickly approached the dealer identifying himself as a police officer. At that time the dealer pointed the weapon at Powell shooting him in the chest. Powell’s Second Chance Model® Y2 armor caught and held the .38 deformed slug.
