Janowski was making his patrol rounds in the early morning hours when he came upon a subject attempting entry into a local doctor’s office before visiting hours. As he approached the perp, another person stepped out of the shadows, behind Janowski and fired three .22 rounds at his back. Two shots missed the officer and hit the office door. The third round buried itself in Janowski’s Second Chance® armor protecting his backside. The blow dazed the officer long enough for the subjects to make good their escape in the dark. Janowski was taken to South Baldwin Hospital where he was treated and released.
