On a call of “shots fired at a police officer”, Officer Watson set up a road barricade to cut off the fleeing vehicle being pursued by another police unit. The vehicle, on approaching the barricade, spun out of control and landed on its roof. On approaching the vehicle shots rang out, one blast hitting Watson in the leg. While on the ground, Watson returned fire. After several, minutes of futile negotiations, the suspects shot themselves rather than surrender to the police. At the hospital for the leg wound, Watson’s clothing was removed and two more pellets from the suspect’s 12 ga. were found embedded in Watson’s Second Chance® vest.
We welcome Officer Martin Watson, SAVE #60, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
