Officer Lanoue was one of five officers summoned to a residence where a man was threatening his girlfriend with a sawed-off shotgun. The gunman released his hostage and drove away in his car when police arrived. He returned to the scene, bailing out of his car firing the shotgun at the officers. Three officers were hit with 12ga shotgun pellets. Lanoue received hits in the chest and left side of his torso covered by his Second Chance® armor. All officers returned fire, killing their assailant at the scene. Lanoue’s armor was the Model Y2+ (Level IIA).
