Lt. Doss was driving a NARC team for a raid on a residence. Two fellow officers were with him in the car, one on the front passenger side, the other directly behind the driver’s seat. As they approached the house four subjects standing in front attempted to flee. In attempting to exit the vehicle, the officer seated behind Doss accidentally discharged his weapon. The .40 caliber Black Talon round, traveled through the driver backrest striking Doss in his Superfeatherlite II Investigator Jacket. The slug did not penetrate the Kevlar panel but Doss did receive trauma directly on his spinal column. Doss was treated and released from the hospital that same day, returning to duty four days later.
We welcome Lieutenant Tommy Doss, SAVE #607, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
