Deputy Truax was one of two officers dispatched to a domestic disturbance call where a husband threatened his wife with a gun. Both officers arrived in separate cars at the same time. The woman had taken refuge with a neighbor, leaving her husband on the front porch, armed with a Ruger 10-22 scoped rifle. The man took aim at the officers firing several times, striking both officers with rounds from his rifle. The assisting officer returned fire with his shotgun wounding the assailant. Traux was hit in the upper chest area, just above his “star.” The lead slug tore through the uniform shirt but stayed “in the outer layer of Truax’s Second Chance® concealed armor.”
We welcome Deputy James A. Truax, SAVE #608, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
