On routine patrol checking out a local business district, Officer Coffman came upon several burglar tools lying on the sidewalk in front of a tavern. Coffman exited his unit, after calling in to the station, and began an investigation of the property. As he approached the back of the establishment a shot rang out striking him in the back. Turning and falling to the ground, he drew his revolver and returned fire in the area another flash of a gun was seen. Another police unit arrived at the time. The responding officers found Coffman on the ground with a bullet hole in his back and a .22 slug embedded in his Second Chance® vest.
We welcome Officer Dave Coffman, SAVE #61, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
