Robbins and his partner responded to a gang-related “shots fired” call. As they entered the area, one of the gang opened fire with a 9mm semi-auto handgun (taurus). Both officers were hit. Robbins took thirteen rounds, five of which struck his Level II Second Chance® concealed armor. All 6 hits on his partner were outside his armor protection. Three of Robbins” five armor hits were directly over his heart.He permanently on disability and he’s now very active in a group that works to reduce violence with young adults.Was keynote speaker at a convention in Chicago – Is very active in a group “Hands without guns”Later, after, the incident – his own 16 yr. old son was accidentally shot by his best friend.
