Sgt. Pinney had stopped along the roadside to ask a pedestrian if he wanted a ride to the next town. The bearded subject came over to the driver’s side of the unit, before Pinney could exit, reached in and sliced the officer across the forehead. As Pinney reacted to the attack the subject put a .32 against Pinney’s chest and pulled the trigger. Pinney’s Second Chance armor stopped the bullet from doing further harm. The attacker fled the scene by climbing the highway fence to escape. Fourteen years earlier Pinney, while still a deputy with Logan County, became Second Chance Save No. 198 when his Second Chance® armor stopped a .22 slug from entering his body and ruining his day
We welcome Sergeant James Pinney, SAVE #619, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
