Officer Callender was given a Second Chance® Monarch II vest on graduation from the academy. Six days later, he was shot in the back with a .380 slug while investigating a domestic dispute. The armor stopped the slug striking directly behind the officer’s heart while talking with another subject. The impact knocked Callender to his knees but he was able to react, and with the help of his partner, discovered the shooter hiding under a car in the vicinity. Callender was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released with only a welt and a bruise on his upper back.
We welcome Officer Scott Callender, SAVE #633, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
