Deputy Smith and his partner responded to a back-up call from a state trooper who had caught up with two vans that had just driven away-without-pay in a nearby town. Smith had his hand on the driver’s shoulder helping him to assume the position when the man turned and placed a 9mm against Smith’s chest and pulled the trigger. The contact shot tore through Smith’s uniform shirt and buried itself in his concealed Second Chance® Model 322ZII soft armor. The blast knocked Smith down but he was able to return fire with his back-up crew bringing down his assailant. Less than two weeks later, Smith was able to personally pick up his new Monarch at the Second Chance® plant.
